Alistair Overeem was granted a conditional license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday after a lengthy proceeding regarding his pre-fight drug test. The NSAC claimed they sent notice of a pre-fight test on November 17, but that's the day Overeem departed for Holland to take care of his mother.
Overeem eventually took a blood test, but he was supposed to take a urine test and thus his first one wasn't acceptable. He then eventually took a test on December 7, but results have not yet come back. The confusion in getting the correct testing done was blamed on a lack of communication with the NSAC, Overeem's assistant, and Overeem himself.
Eventually, the commission ruled to grant Overeem a license pending a few provisions. His December 7 test must be negative for anything, he needs to take another test within 72 hours, yet another test when he gets to the U.S. for the fight, and then he'll need to be tested twice more on his dime in the next six months after the fight.
The gist of it is Overeem will be able to fight Brock Lesnar on December 30, provided none of his tests come back positive for any banned substances.
