Two title changes took place Sunday night at No Surrender as Winter regained the Women’s Knockout Championship from Mickie James while Austin Aries beat Brian Kendrick to capture the X Division Championship.
The title changes were forewarned prior to the event as a match line-up for the Sept. 23 TNA live event in Springfield, Illinois listed Aries as the X Division Champion and Winter as the Women’s Knockouts Champion. We reported both these title changes in our **SPOILER** report on Sunday afternoon.

AMADI: Alistair Overeem, the NSAC, and the UFC's complicit inaction

By: Jason Amadi, MMATorch Columnist

Staff10Amadi_130_49.jpg
Over the last few months, there has been a very strong push online for the UFC to seek out an independent third party like the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) to randomly drug test its fighters and help clean up the sport of mixed martial arts.

To be honest, I've had my reservations about the idea. If a drug tests turns up positive and VADA makes the result public or contacts the presiding athletic commission about the result, then that's great. But if the UFC has anything at all to do with disciplining the fighter, then I think that's a complete conflict of interest and I have little to no faith in Zuffa doing the right thing.

Sure, there is no evidence of the UFC sitting on a fighter's positive drug test and letting him fight at this point, but I think Zuffa brass is cutting it pretty close with former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem.

If Overeem is somehow able to get licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission through some sort of testosterone replacement therapy excuse (as has been reported by @FrontRowBrian), whether or not the UFC still allows him to fight in the main event of UFC 146 will speak volumes about their attitude towards the use of PEDs in their sport.

Last November, the Nevada State Athletic Commission requested a sample from Alistair Overeem to drug test him for his December showdown with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. More specifically, they asked him for a sample on November 17 and he played all sorts of games to avoid getting them what they needed until December 14.

The Dutch kickboxer nearly cost the UFC a pay-per-view main event in December with his drug test evasion, and we're essentially seeing the same thing from him again for the second time in two UFC fights.

If the NSAC is incompetent enough to grant Alistair Overeem a license to fight Junior dos Santos, that doesn't absolve the UFC of any responsibility in this matter. They would have effectively sat back and watched a fighter nearly destroy two of their pay-per-views with PED scandals and done nothing about it. That just isn't good enough for a league of the UFC's caliber.

It's one thing for fans and media to not care about PEDs, but it's another thing entirely for a league the size of the UFC to tacitly accept their athletes using PEDs.

We know the NSAC doesn't care; their track record proves as much. We know Strikeforce didn't care, as evidenced by them commission shopping for Overeem the second "The Demolition" transformed into "Ubereem."

But it isn't okay for the UFC not to care. Dana White can't beat his chest about his sport being the most tested on earth if he's willing to turn a blind eye to PED use as long as an athlete is savvy enough to fool the government.

2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series - Toronto Preview

When the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series kicked off, expectations were high ? very high. After all, the 2011 series was one of the most exciting and variable seasons of premier class racing in the history of the sport, with multiple winners and points lead changes. The championship even came down to a three-way battle in the very last race.

So for 2012, most were hoping for somewhat of a repeat, and for a while it seemed that the likes of Ryan Villopoto, James Stewart, Ryan Dungey, Chad Reed, and Trey Canard might deliver the goods again. But then Canard got hurt in Los Angeles. Okay, not too much of a blow there, but Trey could very well have been a contender, having won three races in 2011. Other than that, for the first four races things were looking up, with four different winners in four rounds. Not bad.

Then along came the East Coast rounds and the main contenders began dropping like flies. First Reed went down in a violent crash during the Dallas main event. The ensuing injury may keep him off the bike for the remainder of the year (which is likely the reason that earlier this week TwoTwo Motorsports announced the signing of Ben Townley to compete in the 2012 AMA Pro Nationals).

Then a press release following the St. Louis round revealed that second in points, Dungey, had fractured his collarbone and undergone surgery in the week leading up to Daytona. Whether he returns to racing before the end of the indoor series or not, Dungey is basically out of the title hunt.

Then last week in Indianapolis, Stewart had his own blunder, falling just after the first turn of his heat race and getting run over by about four other riders. Not many details have been released as to his current condition, but he did not return to racing that night. No word yet on whether fans will be seeing him in action up in Canada.

Kevin Windham out for remainder of Supercross season

GEICO Honda rider Kevin Windham will miss the rest of the Supercross season after suffering several injuries during a crash Saturday in Houston.

Attempting to qualify for the Main event, Windham was in a pitched battle with James Stewart during a Heat race when he came off his CRF450 at a high rate of speed. As a result of the accident, Windham dislocated his right shoulder and sustained damage to his left wrist, left thumb and right hip.

"I've definitely got a dislocated shoulder so that ends my season right there," Windham said. "I've had my wrist examined by two doctors; one said it was broken and the other one said it's not. It's very swollen and black and blue so it's hard for them to tell. I'm going to see another specialist (Tuesday) and have an MRI done to see exactly what's up. We just need get it fixed properly.

"I can't move my left thumb at all and my hip hurts. I'm not really sure what's going on with either of them at the moment. I'm basically hurting all over."

The 34-year-old Windham, the oldest competitor on tour, was having another solid season before his accident. He has two podium finishes to his credit and had been a part of the top five all year.

R4TC: 2010 Ride for the Cure at Cahuilla Motocross Park

I haven't hit the track much in 2010, but knowing that the 4th Annual Motocross Ride for the Cure Event was coming, I dusted off the KTM, dropped it off at Malcolm Motorsports for some fine tuning, hit Milestone Motocross Track for a handful of warm ups and I was ready to enjoy the funnest event of the year hosted by motocross enthusiast herself, Laurie Carey, who is constantly raising the bar for fundraising, support, education and interaction for Breast Cancer Awareness!

The morning started off amazing, perfect day to moto! The sky's were bright blue and littered with dark fluffy rain clouds! Dropping rain in perfect track watering patterns, the day was in full swing and the pits were packed! Tons of Factory support lined up for the event, they even had a never ending Freestyle show in the works! Mike Metzger, the God Father of FMX was doing his thing and dozens of other talented riders busting out tricks for the fans.

I pretty much settled into a pack rat of MXGirls, WMA Pro Rider Elizabeth Bash, Race Techs Michelle Marshall, and Mission Motorsports Brooklyn McClendon. We had a blast mixing it up on the main and vet tracks, sporting our decorated "Ride for the Cure" Bra's and having a blast spinning laps, saving boobies!

In the end I was amazed at the growth this event has accumulated over the years, by far the most impressive outcome I've seen. I'm looking forward to next year's event, but more importantly, it's touching to see all the work Laurie Carey puts into the Support and Awareness of Breast Cancer.

Junior dos Santos says allowing Alistair Overeem to fight at UFC 146 would be disrespectful to MMA

Other than professing his own aversion to using banned substances, UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos has remained relatively quiet in the wake of last week?s news surrounding #1 contender Alistair Overeem?s failed drug test. However, with talk heating up that Overeem may be allowed to fight ?Cigano? at UFC 146 due to a technicality, [...]

Nick Diaz to face world champion BJJ player Braulio Estima in grappling superbout

Nick Diaz has never been submitted in an MMA bout. While that streak may be safe as he sits out a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance after his loss to Carlos Condit, his BJJ will be tested soon. Diaz will participate in a bout with Braulio Estima. (Since it's not an MMA bout, he doesn't need a license so he's not violating the suspension.)

Estima is a highly-credentialed blackbelt in jiu-jitsu. He has won a world championship and numerous titles in BJJ and has two gold medals and a silver from the respected Abu Dhabi grappling tournament. In other words, he's one of the best around at groundwork.

Diaz and Estima will not wear gis (the traditional garment for BJJ) in their bout, making it more like an MMA bout. Diaz has eight wins by submission, but few opponents have the grappling skill of Estima. Will Diaz be able to win this bout? Tell us in the comments, on Twitter or on Facebook.

Since 1990, the [...]

Semifinalist Victor Cheng says Cage Warriors' middleweight tournament up for grabs

When the semifinal round of the organization's middleweight tournament kicks off tomorrow at Cage Warriors Fight Night 5, participant Victor Cheng isn't about to make any bold predictions.

In an eight-man field that's featured some of Europe's top prospects, he knows any of his fellow tourney semifinalists could win it.

"I feel [of] all the guys that are left, all the guys could win the tournament," he today told MMAjunkie.com Radio. "The competition is very high."
